WATCH: Pre-schoolers show off their talent at pageant

The pageant hoped to instill confidence in the children, and they certainly weren’t shy.

Kempton Park was star-studded with beauties on Saturday evening as Natchie Pre-school hosted its annual beauty pageant. The judges were none other than Kempton’s very own belles Bryoni Govender and Michelle Howell. Bryoni did the city proud as a Miss SA top 12 finalist earlier this year and Michelle as a top 28 regional finalist.

The judging panel was also joined by Bryoni’s mom, Shireen Govender.

The three women had a difficult task ahead of them as all the boys and girls who took to the runway were adorable. The little ones strutted their stuff in beachwear, traditional wear and formal wear.

“If your child can make it from one end to the other of the runway they are already a winner,” school principal Audrey Vushe told the crowd.

According to her, the pageant is held each year to boost the children’s confidence.

“Many children come from a disadvantaged background. We want to take any inferiority complex away from them as soon as we can,” she told Express.

The children clearly enjoyed the event and cheered loudly for their friends who won titles at the end of the evening.

Angela Dube took the crown as Miss Natchie Pre-school and Amoheleng Thoka as Mr Natchie Pre-school. The first and second princesses were Tavonga Mutendi and Matifadza Katokwe respectively, while Junior Mungofah and Shalom Mawire walked away as the first and second princes.

Of course, the pageant was not without heaps of personality. Princess Chokuona and Valdamacca Muzinarwo were crowned Miss and Mr Pesonality in the baby class.

In the Barney Class, Mr Personality went to Gift Mphungule, while Tariro Katokwe was crowned Miss Personality.

Lastly, the Grade R class cheered as Faith Lebudi won Miss Personality and Edward Magaya Mr Personality. These title winners received gift bags sponsored by Kempton Park McDonald’s. The rest of the youngsters weren’t too sad that they didn’t win, as they each enjoyed a delicious McDonald’s meal.

Little ones took to the runway with confidence, much to the enjoyment of the crowd watching.
