Rabie Ridge SAPS corporate communications officer Captain Mofana Masela issued the successes of the SAPS members in the north cluster.
“When SAPS members were about to go off duty on August 9, while doing a stop and search, they suspected two white bakkies and stopped the vehicles.
“It was an Isuzu bakkie and a Nissan bakkie,” said Masela.
He said upon searching the four suspects from the Isuzu bakkie, SAPS members found two firearms, a Z88 and a Girsan pistol on two of the suspects with the serial numbers filed off. The suspects, aged 45 and 33 years old, were arrested.

Masela said the Isuzu bakkie was found to be a suspected stolen vehicle with a Johannesburg central case number.
“In the Nissan bakkie, SAPS members found house break-in implements and arrested two men of between 23 to 30 years.
“One of the suspects is from Naturena in Soweto and the other is from Eldorado Park and were both arrested for possession of house break-in implements.
“On further investigation one of the suspects was found to have pending cases in Eldorado Park for possession of suspected stolen property and was due to appear in a Soweto court, as well as a case of possession of stolen property for which he should appear in a Kliptown court.
“The other suspect from the Nissan has a pending business robbery case and is due to appear in court.

“These suspect may be linked to more recent cases, they seem to be on a rampage terrorising innocent law abiding citizens.
“Bravo to the Edenvale sector team. Their hard work has paid off by them arresting the four suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of stolen motor vehicles and stolen property,” said Masela.
He credited the good work to SAPS sector team members Constable Patrick Matemane and Constable Fhatuwani Matshusa of Edenvale SAPS.
