The case against two DA ward councillors, who are accused of assault and defeating the ends of justice, was postponed until October 18 in Edenvale Magistrate’s Court on September 6.
Also charged with ward councillors Tracey Lourenco and Simon Lapping are Lourenco’s daughter and sister, Samantha Nieuwoudt and Kim Smith.
They are accused of assaulting police officers at Edenvale Police Station on August 10.
The accused also instituted charges of assault and defeating the ends of justice against the police.

During their latest court appearance, the magistrate ordered the prosecution to hand over a copy of the docket to the accused.
A presentation will now be made to the senior prosecutor in Germiston for a decision on whether to pursue the case or withdraw the charges.
Lapping expressed his dissatisfaction that they had to pay R60 for the copies.
“I feel this is not right as many accused would not be able to afford it if they were in the same boat. As the accused we have the right to have a copy of the docket and not have to pay for that right,” he said.
Lourenco, Lapping, Nieuwoudt and Smith had gone to the police station the night of the alleged incident to follow up on another case when they allegedly witnessed police being aggressive with a young man who wanted to open a case against the metro police.
When Lourenco tried to film the incident with her cellphone, police allegedly told her she wasn’t allowed to. The officers allegedly tried to grab the phone out of her hand but she resisted.
As a result of the incident, Lourenco suffered a chipped bone in her ankle and a detached ligament.
