In addition to the 95 primary healthcare facilities, the City of Ekurhuleni has additional mobile clinics that visit informal settlements to provide much-needed care to residents.
They operate from 9am to 3pm with a dedicated team of two nurses and a driver. The team attends to the needs of the community that falls outside a 3-5 km radius of an established clinic.
The services rendered include but is not limited to:
• Minor acute ailments.
• Child health care: growth and development monitoring.
• Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI).
• Integrated management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI)
• Fertility Planning Services (FPS).
• Cervical cancer screening (pap-smear).
• HIV testing services.
• Provision of nutritional supplements.
• Other health screenings such as blood pressure (BP), blood glucose (BG), weight and cholesterol screening.
Esangweni mobile clinic will offer services in the following areas on these days:
Vusimuzi on Mondays and Wednesdays; Sophiatown on Tuesdays and Fridays, and at Esiphetweni on Thursdays.
Olifantsfontein mobile clinic will offer services in the following areas on these days:
Clayville Extension 45 on Mondays; Tswelopele Extension 8 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; Tswelopele (Winnie Mandela) on Thursdays, and at L&J informal settlement on Fridays.
Kempton Park mobile clinic will offer services in the following areas on these days:
Esselen Park Extension 1 and 2 on Mondays and Tuesdays; Birch Acres Park on Tuesdays; Crushcor Mine and Bokkies Farm 1 on the first Thursday of the month; Maraboe Street and Cake Centre Isando on the second Thursday of the month; Aurora and Bokkies Farm 2 on the third Thursday of the month; Wesleyan Church and Kazimingi on the fourth Thursday of the month and Esselen Park Extension Three on Fridays.
Patients who need services that are outside of the mobile clinic’s scope are referred to a hospital.
