Trains between Johannesburg and Pretoria are back on track
There is a growing element of criminality that Metrorail condemns in the strongest terms possible
The Metrorail train service running between Pretoria and Johannesburg has been fully restored.
This follows a service disruption on Wednesday morning due to overhead catenary wires that were cut and stolen at Irene in the early hours of the morning.
Trains services will operate normally for the afternoon peak and no delays are expected.
There is a growing element of criminality that Metrorail condemns in the strongest terms possible. Efforts are being explored to beef up security to curb crime in the railway operational environment.
Metrorail management would like to thank its commuters and employers for their support and patience while technicians worked hard to replace the stolen cables.
