Herfsland’s great-gran turns 100
Allettha Aspinall from Herfsland Old Age Home turned 100 in August.
Friends and family gathered for Allettha Aspinall’s 100th birthday celebration on August 27.
Allettha is a Herfsland Old Age Home resident and was showered with lots of love on reaching this milestone.
Allettha is blessed with three children, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Checkers Festival Mall donated a cake to help celebrate the milestone with Allettha, her family and friends.

“We normally donate cakes for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, but when they approached us and told us about Allettha’s birthday, we didn’t have a problem with donating because pensioners also come to our store,” said Mauritz Marais, fresh manager at Checkers Festival Mall.
Allettha told Express she was happy to be celebrating her 100th birthday: “I have been blessed that God helped me throughout my life.”
And her advice to leading a long and healthy life is: “Eat the right food, especially tomatoes, because I remember reading in a doctor’s book that tomatoes are very good for the human body, especially the heart.
“My advice to youth is simple, always look up and never look down.”
Residents at the home were also part of the celebration.
