SAPS and EMPD members searched 42 vehicles during a roadblock in Birch Acres on Wednesday morning.
“The operation at Piet-My-Vrou Street lasted two hours,” Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, told Express.
According to him, 17 of the 42 drivers that were stopped were guilty of different offences.
“In total, fines to the value of R7 000 were issued.”
Molokomme added that this roadblock formed part of a joint operation between each police station in Ekurhuleni North Cluster and the metro police, which each sent two members to patrol the area.
“The station commander, Col Tobias Strauss, and station Vispol head Lt Col Petrus Tsoute, thanked members who participated in the operation for their effort to ensure the safety of their communities.”
