MES and Kempton Park Golf Club start recycling project

MES Kempton Park and Kempton Park Golf Club have taken hands in a new recycling project.

Currently, about 1.25 tons of material gets sorted on a weekly basis by the GROW Programme and its members. All activities take place on the premises of the club.

According to Lori Wessels, spokesperson of the club, getting involved helped them to sort their recyclable materials more effectively, reduce removable waste, while at the same time getting involved with a local charity on a more regular basis.

“Besides our disposable waste being reduced and our recyclable materials serving the community, we have also been able to source staf, for a recent vacancy through MES. It was for our catering department and we were fortunate enough that one of the GROW team members, Nicholas Ndlovu, had the qualifications and experience we were looking for,” said Wessels.

Ndlovu is extremely grateful for this opportunity.

“We are all God’s children and the homeless people of our city should not lose hope. Blessings usually come when you least expect it. My new job at the golf club allows me to better my life and that of my family and it has happened because I trust in God,” said Ndlovu.

Duane Edwards, MES Kempton Park branch manager, concludes: “The partnership with the golf club allows us the opportunity to work with local businesses in creating a better environment, while at the same time, creating job opportunities.”
