WATCH: Pizza delivery man hospitalised after Elgin Road crash

The back of the Debonairs scooter was left barely recognisable.

A pizza delivery man was seriously injured when a car collided with his scooter in Birchleigh on Friday night.

According to Riëtte du Plessis, a Sec Pro paramedic who tended to the patient, he works for Debonairs.

“He was driving down Elgin Road when a woman in an Audi exited Nick Meyer Shopping Centre and collided with him,” Du Plessis said.

When Express arrived on the scene at 8pm, the man had already been taken to Tembisa Hospital with a broken leg. His scooter lied mangled on the side of the road, surrounded with shattered glass, while EMPD members diverted traffic.

Two other response teams were also on the scene.

“I called ER24 for advanced life support and the man was given morphine,” Du Plessis added.
