Around 72 good-hearted golfers teed off for a good cause on Friday morning, as the Kempton Panorama School hosted a golf day at the Kempton Park Golf Club.
According to Fransli Buckle, an occupational therapist at the school, the funds raised will go towards scholarships, clothes and transport costs for learners at the school who need it most.
The golf day included a tee-shot scramble, a competition to see who could hit the longest drive on the fairway, and who could hit the ball nearest to the pin. A prize-giving, including a lucky draw, took place later in the afternoon.
“We want to help as many children as possible,” Buckle told Express, as players golfed on the course around her. “We care about each individual child.”
Buckle added that the school is grateful for each and every donation. “There are so many pupils with so much potential, but they don’t always have financial support. We hope to change that.”
Player Armand van Tonder (24) agreed as Express chatted to him on the course. “These types of schools do such good work and we need to support them.”
The school, situated in Akasia Street, accommodates learners with special educational needs.
