Community gathers for Intercare’s food drive

Family fun and health screenings at food drive in aid of MES

Jumping castles, live entertainment and health stalls formed part of Intercare Glen Marais’ food drive at Cavendish Glen Shopping Centre on Saturday.

The fun-filled drive was aimed at raising funds and collecting goods for MES Kempton Park.

“We notified people about the drive and they had the option to drop off items at Checkers Cavendish Glen, Intercare, Lancet or donate it at today’s event,” said Intercare’s Ada Botes.

Christian Motorcyclists Association of South Africa members were also present and showed their support.

Intercare Glen Marais hosted a food drive in aid of MES Kempton Park on November 17 at Cavendish Glen Shopping Centre. MES Kempton Park’s Duane Edwards, John Monareng, Ada Botes (Intercare Glen Marais) and Soul Malatji were humbled by the support received from the community.

Hampers from different Cavendish Glen stores were raffled and discount vouchers were also available.

“It is very important for the community to buy into changing for the better and spreading hope,” said MES Kempton Park’s Duane Edwards.

“Our clients are very lonely this time of the year. Events and acts like these are important so people can engage with the less fortunate. We appreciate what this drive has done for us.”

André Pretorius and Kyle the Indian Boertjie kept the audience entertained with live performances.

Make-up tips, free cholesterol, sugar and blood pressure tests, as well as free hearing and eye tests, were made available to the community.
