Brethren In Christ Church looks after Phomolong community

Brethren In Christ Church strives to ease the plight in poor communities.

Brethren In Christ Church (BICC), under the leadership of Pastor Maqhawe Ncube, hosted a charity event at Phomolong Community Hall on November 4.

Ncube said BICC is a community Bible-based church that focuses on preaching the Word of God and ministering to the needs of people in the community.

“We requested Ward 13 councillor Ndala Sibanyoni and his committee to help identify seven orphans and three widows from the Phomolong community. They were blessed with food parcels from the church as a way of giving back to the community and demonstrating of love to the needy.

“The councillor greatly appreciated the initiative on behalf of Ekurhuleni municipality,” said Ncube.

He said the church also adopted three orphans permanently through the councillor’s assistance.

“We will be sending them to school in 2019. Two of the children are in primary school and one is in Grade Nine.

“The church will be providing them with school uniforms and all other levies will be the responsibility of the church.

“They will be catered for both physically and spiritually.

“BICC exists for the community, we have other projects like an orphanage, school of carpentry, a feeding scheme and a crèche but due to the unavailability of a permanent place for these projects it’s difficult for us to have them running efficiently,” said Ncube.

He mentioned that a football tournament was also arranged for the day where orphans and members of the church had a soccer match after the service.

“We also focused on talent development where we want to see them excel in their God-given talents.

“Next year we want to increase the number of beneficiaries, meaning more orphans and widows will benefit from this programme.

“The football tournament will be accompanied by a trophy and cash next year to help encourage and improve the lives of the needy in the community.

“It is the responsibility of the church as mandated to make sure orphans and widows do not lack, instead they must be taken good care of,” Ncube explained.
