Ivory Park SAPS officer retires after 30 years of service
Mokgawa said his long stay with the SAPS was due to several factors, among which are discipline and the support from his family.
Staff members of the Ivory Park SAPS gathered for a farewell party for one of its officers, WO Frans Mokgawa on November 10.
Mokgawa had served for three decades as a police officer, culminating in his retirement at Ivory Park SAPS where he served as a second-hand goods officer. His duties were to continuously check on second-hand dealerships to ensure that the dealers have the necessary papers for the items and that these shops are not a destination for stolen property. And he did an excellent job.
Mokgawa was first enlisted in the then South African Police in 1988 in Soweto, and has been posted to some far flung areas such as Upington in the Northern Cape.
He later served in the Public Order Policing Unit until he was transferred to Ivory Park more than a decade ago.

Mokgawa said his long stay with the SAPS is due to several factors, chief among which are discipline and the support from his family.
His departing words to his colleagues, especially the more junior ones, were: “The police environment is more about command and control, and it will be in everyone’s interest to adhere to this. Members owe it to themselves and the community to always be respectful, and not forget that they have a huge responsibility to the community they serve. We are all about service.”
The station commander of the police station, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, on behalf of the entire staff of the Ivory Park SAPS, thanked Mokgawa for many years of loyal service to the SAPS.
