Ekurhuleni North Cluster Youth Desk member Malessa Mahlangu has been selected as one of the finalists in this year’s competition.
The Grand Finale takes place on December 8 at Summer Place Boutique Hotel, Lambton, Germiston.
The pageant empowers women with the knowledge to bring about change in communities that are in need.
Through the pageant, the main focus is on the internal and external development of young women in South Africa.
The organisation hosts a series of self-awareness and empowerment workshop for finalists.
This ensures that finalists step out of their comfort zone and start having influence.
The Gauteng Enterprise Propeller (GEP) has partnered with Miss Commonwealth South Africa to give entrepreneurship education to finalists.
The end goal is to also crown the Diamond entrepreneur.
Both GEP and Miss CWSA want to see young women participating in the economy as they will be mentored through the leadership programme to create and run their own successful businesses.
Miss CWSA is also a stakeholder of a campaign which was launched by the Gauteng Premier’s office which empowers a girl to lead.
The organisation works closely with the Gauteng Department of Social Development ensuring that young women, as well as girls, are empowered and opportunities are created for them.
Miss Commonwealth SA is in the business of transferring skills within young women from different walks of life.
Through the Miss Commonwealth South Africa Pageant, a platform is created for young women between ages 20-32 years to become charity ambassadors adding value to the lives of those that are in need.
This is also a stepping stone for finalists to follow their dreams.
The title holders become involved in charitable causes and uphold the aims and objectives of the Commonwealth.
This includes racial harmony, poverty eradication and social cohesion.
“It is our duty as a community to assist young women by creating opportunities for them and also to give them space to be role models that are committed to serving the needs within society, ” says Miss Commonwealth South Africa National Director, Ngawethu Ka-Siphiwo.
