Cake decorators hand out cakes
The group meets every fourth Wednesday of the month at Benoni Baptist Church
The Cake Decorators Network Benoni again donated cakes to charities at the group’s final meeting at Benoni Baptist Church in Farrarmere on November 28.
Tania Riley, chairperson of the branch, said each year the non-profit organisation bakes cakes which are donated to charities and this year 13 were donated.
She thanked all the bakers for their love and for baking these cakes out of the goodness of their hearts. The organisation raised R6 930 with a raffle and the winner of the cake that was raffled off was Kobus Storm.
Tania explained that some of the charities raffle off or sell the sweet treats to generate income for their respective organisations.
The following organisations each received a cake: Benoni Baptist Church, Edenvale Rotary Club, Manger Care Centre, Benoni van Ryn Rotary Club, Benoni Animal Rescue Centre, iThemba Rape and Trauma Support Centre, Teddy Bear Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Childhood Cancer Foundation (Choc), Solidarity Helping Hand Kempton Park, Brainstorm Support Group Benoni and Kids Haven.
The aim of the Cake Decorators Network is to further the interest of cake baking. The organisation has 51 members in Benoni and all their members and committee are volunteers.
The group meets every fourth Wednesday of the month at Benoni Baptist Church, 33 Wordsworth Road, at 6.30pm for 7pm.
