Westside Primary learns about 16 Days of Activism

Bullying, theft and emergency numbers were on the agenda for the day.

Learners from Westside Primary School were in for a treat when they were visited by a former high-ranking police member and Norkem Park SAPS.

Former Col Linda Gqomfa, who is now a member of the Ward 104 committee, visited the school as part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.

“The learners were taught that bullying and stealing are wrong, and were taught emergency numbers as well as ChildLine’s number,” Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesperson for  Norkem Park SAPS, told Express.

Each child also received a whistle and was shown how to use it in case of an emergency.

“The team will continue with this project and escalate it to other schools in the Norkem Park policing area next year,” Molokomme added.

Norkem Park sector managers, the social crime coordinator and Clr Tracey Lourenco also attended the event.
