Teen (16) nearly drowns in Bonaero Park swimming pool
ER 24 contact centre nurse provides support on telephone
A 16-year-old girl is in a critical condition following a near drowning incident in Bonaero Park on Saturday afternoon.
Shortly after 1pm on paramedics from ER24 arrived at the residence where bystanders were performing CPR on the girl, Werner Vermaak of ER24 said.
Paramedics from ER24 continued with advanced life support intervention and after some time managed to regain a pulse.
The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
It is understood that the girl and friends were playing in a pool at a residence. They noticed the girl was not coming up from under the water and immediately called for assistance and initiated CPR.
An ER24 Contact Centre nurse stayed on the line and provided telephonic assistance until the paramedics arrived on scene.
The circumstances surrounding the incident is not yet known.
