60 babies born at Tembisa Hospital

Doctors and nursing staff were very busy over the holiday, but pictures show that they were overjoyed with the little bundles.

It certainly was a festive season at Tembisa Hospital over the holidays, as 60 babies were born on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day combined.

Nurses were delighted to welcome 22 baby boys and 15 girls into the world on December 25. The first baby, the son of Thulisile Nkosi, made his arrival at 15 minutes past midnight and weighed 2.7kg.

He was given a gift by nursing manager Wilfred Mothwane, nurse Philda Makweya and matron Sarah Gordon.

Soon enough a little girl, the daughter of Zintle Ntshayi, made her entrance at 1.35am, weighing 3.1kg.

Happy New Year. The son of Vanessa Mahlangu arrived within the first five minutes of 2019.

She was followed by three more boys, the sons of Veronica Nyathi, Lavender Ngwenya and Caroline Monyama.

The son of Vanessa Mahlangu couldn’t wait to start the New Year and arrived within the first five minutes of 2019. The baby boy, who weighed 2.5kg, was the first of 21 babies delivered on January 1.

He was given a gift by nursing manager Mothwane, operational manager Matjatji Phasha and assistant manager Violet Ramalapa.

The first girl born at the hospital in 2019 was the daughter of Mbali Mtshali and was delivered at 20 minutes past midnight.

She was followed by a baby boy, the son of Nokuthula Mpofu, a girl, the daughter of Nompumelelo Maseko, and another boy, the son of Cathrine Sithole.
