WATCH: Bag-throwing handler at OR Tambo suspended
Disciplinary action will be taken against him
A baggage handler at OR Tambo International Airport had been suspended after caught on video mishandling passengers’ luggage.
OR Tambo International Airport engaged the ground handler’s company, BidAir Services, regarding its employee’s behaviour after the video was posted on social media.
BidAir Services identified the employee who had been suspended with immediate effect while the company initiated disciplinary action.
“There are many professional employees who work for various companies in the airport ecosystem. It’s therefore disconcerting when an employee falls short of the standards of the service level agreement we have with companies performing licensed activities within the airport, the airport said in a statement.
