WATCH: Farm animals roam the streets of Birchleigh North and Norkem
Residents say the animals pose a danger to the community.
Kemptonians looking for a farm experience need to search no further than the streets of Birchleigh North and Norkem Park, where residents claim livestock is roaming their roads.
“Cows, goats and sheep are being herded in our wetland areas and moved along our roads and parks, which is a danger for traffic and pedestrians,” a Birchleigh North resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told Express.
According to Clr Desmond McKenzie, the animals have grazed Birhleigh North and recently moved to Pongolariver Drive in Norkem Park. It is unclear who the owner of the animals is.
“The animals pose a danger to motorists as they can cross at any given time,” McKenzie said in his complaint to the city.
“I am still waiting for a response from the department,” he told Express.
Manager of Kempton Park SPCA Kira Sparrow said the society had not received any complaints about the animals.
