Italtile Limited and its subsidiary CTM officially handed over refurbished school toilets to Gahlanso Primary School on January 11.
The school’s principal, Lerato Mahetjie, said as a school they were struggling to have dignified toilets for their learners.

“CTM came to our rescue when they offered to renovate the toilets. They renovated toilet seats, basins and urinals for the boys. The condition of the toilets are far better than they’ve ever been before,” said Mahetjie.
He said their learners will now gain respect and be motivated knowing that they have better bathrooms.

The executive director of Italtile, Brandon Wood, said the project was done as part of their dignity drive which is centred around restoring dignity to school facilities which they believe is very important in the upbringing and education of students.
“Simple human dignity does have an impact on the morale and psyche of students.
“We are very pleased to be able to contribute to those type of things.
“Our strategy is identifying schools in the communities around the stores where we operate.

“Store managers travel through the communities to identify schools and make a call for applications,” Wood explained.
He said the schools then work with their citizen manager to determine where they can help as businesses.
Vice principal Kgomotso Msimango said she is happy for what CTM has done for their school and added that the gesture is a good example of the spirit of ubuntu.
“To us this is saying, if you can give to the needy, you must.
“I am so overwhelmed with joy. We must now ensure that our students do justice to those toilets,” said Msimango.
