Ethafeni women pray for the community

Ethafeni Multi-Skill Centre holds candlelight prayer.

On February 14, women of Ward 14 held a candle prayer meeting at Ethafeni Multi-skill Centre dedicated to raising awareness about social issues faced by women and children.

They mainly focused on child abuse, kidnapping, drug abuse and unemployment.

Anna Nkambule of Ward 14’s women and children sector said they organised the meeting to reach as many families as possible through prayers.

“We urge women not to be silent when they are faced with difficulties at home.”

She also said they worked hand in hand with a social worker, Dicken Nkuna, and People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA).

“At times we hold youth or women empowerment meetings with various organisations or with individuals to educate the community about different social skills, such as business skills or skills required for job placement opportunities,” explained Nkambule.

“Once a month we collect food parcels and clothes from donors within and outside the community of Tembisa. Sixteen households are identified to receive food parcels and clothes.”

Bishop Thulari Ellen was invited to lead the prayer meeting. Thulari said it was encouraging attending prayer meetings because it revived hope that through Christ people could still be saved.

“I wish I could find a big venue, almost like a stadium, where we could praise and worship the Lord and educate the youth about the evangelist,” said Thulari.

Nkambule urged the community to come forward with their problems.

“For anyone who wants to contact us may call 083 5873 824 or visit our offices at Ethafeni Multi-Skill Centre next to Ethafeni clinic,” said Nkambule.
