Norkem Park High’s tuck shop gets a healthy facelift

The healthy food options are also reasonably priced.

The second school term started on Tuesday, but luckily the learners of Norkem Park High School had a new tuck shop to look forward to.

Hiteka Kitchen, which was launched on Saturday, promises to offer the learners healthy food options at a reasonable price.

“We wanted to give the school food environment a facelift,” Labani Mgimeti, food service manager of Hiteka Kitchen, told Express.

The new facility will also integrate Fundi, a cashless payment system. “We will start with the cashless system and cash together, but later we will only use the cashless system so learners don’t have to bring money to school,” Mgimeti said. This, she added, is for safety reasons.

Parents will be able to register their children on Fundi where they can upload money for learners to use at the tuck shop and view the cash flow.
