The commitment and vigilance of two Kempton Park SAPS crime prevention unit officers led to the arrest of two suspects on West Street during the early hours of Tuesday.
The officers were patrolling the area around 2am when they noticed two suspicious-looking people near one of the motor spares shop buildings.
“The officers approached and searched the suspects and found that one of them was in possession of a bolt cutter,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.
“The building was inspected and it was discovered that one of the locks had been cut off.”
The suspects, both aged 32, were arrested for possession of suspected house break-in implements and attempted business burglary.
Kempton Park SAPS’ acting station commander, Col Alstair Subramanian, commended both officers for their alertness and preventing another business burglary.
“This shows that police visibility is the best crime prevention method,” said Subramanian.
