Church stages a dance and music competition

New church to be launched at Ivory Park. It will host a dance and music competition.

The Redeemed Christian Church Of God hosted a dance and music competition on April 22 at the Ivory Park Community North Hall.

The eight-hour event started at 8am to unleash and identify talent on stage. The community of Ivory Park was entertained, enjoying dance and musical showcase on stage.

Groups that participated included the Twilight Keens, Maphatha Dichaba, Isiah and Revolutions.

The finals are scheduled to take place at Ivory Park Hall Extension 2, opposite the Ivory Park Stadium on April 27.

The following groups have been nominated to battle it out for the grand prizes: M Cultural, R Kruger, Tembisa Spinners, Tembisa Teens, Maphutha Dichaba, Dare Devil Juniors, Revolution, OJ Max, Operation Thatha and Via Incorruptible.

Events coordinator Phineas Mamabolo said the finals will coincide with the opening of a new church in Ivory Park.

On the competition itself, he said: “We call on the people of the community to participate in the competition.

“We trying to win souls through the programme, and also to groom participants in the arts,” said Mamabolo.

“There are prizes to be won ranging from R3 000 for the first prize, R2 000 for the runners-up prize and R1 000 for the third prize,” added Mamabolo.

Life ‘Mtivo’ Mabasa, an actor, said his group African Black Diamond Theatre production won the competition in 2010 in Alexandra.

“We are also trying to help children to appreciate the arts and to involve them in other projects.
