Primary school learners receive school uniforms

KTVR donates uniforms to Tembisa primary school learners, continuing its February initiative held at Rabasotho Community Hall.

On April 12, KTVR Bus Service visited three primary schools in Tembisa to donate full school uniforms to six needy learners from each school as identified by the school management.

The delegation comprised KTVR management and Ekurhuleni Taxi Industry representatives. The three schools visited were Tlhakanang Primary School, Nyiko Primary School and Peter Zongwane Primary School.

This visit followed the main event hosted by KTVR Bus Service at Rabasotho Community Hall on February 27, where 180 needy learners from six primary schools in Tembisa were each presented with a full school uniform. The schools that were invited to the event were Umthembeka Primary School, Endulwini Primary School, Tlhakanang Primary School, Nyiko Primary School, Peter Zongwane Primary School and Isiziba Primary School.

Bongani Rams Mabunda, a parent at Nyiko Primary, said he was happy his child would now have the confidence to wake up in the morning and go to school.

“I see many children without a full school uniform as I accompany children to school every day. As an unemployed father, the donations will play a vital role in my child’s life,” said Mabunda.

Tsakane Chidi, principal of Peter Zongwane Primary School, said when the children grow up they will remember what was once done for them and they will be able to do the same for others.

“Thank you for accomplishing the vision of the Department of Education. Learners are now in full school uniform and parents have the responsibility to clean their child’s uniform and polish their shoes,” said Chidi.

Tebogo Modise, marketing manager of KTVR, said it was at the February event where they realised they needed to extend their hand to more learners in the schools that they visited.

“The delegation from KTVR Bus Service and Ekurhuleni Taxi Industry was well received by the school management, parents of each learner and the school governing body in each school,” said Modise.

Royale Kabe, chairperson of Ekurhuleni Taxi Industry, said KTVR Bus Service was the operating company for the Harambee Bus Rapid Transit System and through its corporate social investment initiatives was able to give back to the community where they are currently in operation.
