Pageant’s second annual auditions take place at Rabie Ridge Community Hall

Miss Natural Midrand auditions were hosted at Rabie Ridge Community Hall with grand prizes to be won.

Unusual Entertainment hosted the second annual Miss Natural Midrand 2019 pageant auditions on April 28 at Rabie Ridge Community Hall, inviting girls of all sizes.

The pageant, founded by Tivani Makamu (21), who is also the founder of Unusual Entertainment, does only not focus on beauty, but aims to bring girls of all sizes between the ages of 15 and 25 together and to break all stereotypes.

The auditions were moved from the Ivory Park North Community Hall to the Rabie Ridge Community Hall as they were aiming for a much larger audition.

“The pageant aims to bring girls from different parts of townships and backgrounds into one room.

“The finalists are encouraged to bring possessions which they no longer use, to donate to improve the conditions in our communities.

Beverley Madia, Miss Phenomenal SA 2019; Annah Mangaye, Miss Teen SA Universal second princess; Vivian Mogane, Queen of The World first princess and Tivani Makamu, Miss Inspire SA 2019 first princess, were all judges at this year’s Miss Natural Midrand 2019 pageant.

“The first prize includes a six-month modelling contract, portfolio shoot and automatic entry into the Miss Phenomenal SA 2020 pageant,” said Makamu.

Various current reigning pageant princesses and queens were invited to form part of the judging panel.

“I came with no expectations, but I am looking for a girl, or a lady rather, who will bring a fresh look and who is comfortable in her own skin,” said Makamu, who judged the auditions.

Among the other judges were Vivian Mogane, Queen Of The World first princess; Annah Mangaye, Miss Teen SA Universal second princess; Beverley Madia, Miss Phenomenal SA 2019 and Pretty Nhachona, Miss Natural Midrand 2018.

Charmaine Muveyi (15) Miss Natural Midrand (Teen) 2018 said through the pageant they were able to do charity work and she won modelling classes, which helped with her walk.

“Young women should be inspired to join pageants because they develop certain characters in individuals. One gets to grow to be a good public speaker and leader and it develops your personality,” said Muveyi.

The actual date of the event is yet to be announced. For more information about the pageant, contact Makamu on 073 373 3624.
