Unleashing talent in Ivory Park

Ivory Park hosts a talent extravaganza show at Ivory Park Community North Hall

Creation of Arts hosted a fill-up cooler box talent show at Ivory Park Community North Hall on April 27.

The event was a collection of township artists who showcased their talents and was organised by Frans Amos ‘Pay Cheque’ Dolo in order to uplift the spirit of artists in the neighbourhood. The acts included performances of poetry, hip-hop and house music DJs and MCs.

Dolo said there will still many of these events to come as it is motivated by the spirit of young people from townships.

“This event was to expose the talent in Ivory Park and surrounding areas,” said Dolo.

“As an artist, I see many people who quit their talent because they don’t receive recognition; other artists die broke and messed up.

“The level of talent on our streets can only be recognised, uplifted and polished through events like this, by building a fan base.”

The event also features artists from Soweto, Vosloorus, Tembisa and other areas.

Keletso Gumede (artist) from Vosloorus came to enjoy his day with his friends and end Freedom Day in a good mood.

“I felt I needed time to enjoy Freedom Day. I performed with other artists and learned from them,” said Gumede.

Sabelo ‘Sphethoh’ Mntabo (hip-hop artist) said he came to support Pay Cheque and that the environment creates a perfect atmosphere for his new music video.

“A soccer player grows on the pitch, for artist to grow they need to come together and share skills and evaluate their fan base from performances because music is for the people,” said Sphethoh.
