Emmangweni Primary learners win at Baswa Lemetsi competition

Emmangweni Primary School learners shine at drama and dance competition.

On May 9, Emmangweni Primary School learners shone in the Baswa Lemetsi competition at East Rand School of the Arts in Benoni.

Emmangweni Primary principal Golden Ramoetlo said the aim of the competition was to raise awareness on how to save water.

He said the Grade Five and Six learners took first position in drama and traditional dance.

Fifteen schools participated in the competition and Emmangweni Primary came out tops.

“Now our school is proceeding to the provincial level of the competition, which is sponsored by Motsepe Foundation.

“I am over the moon and overwhelmed by the achievement.

“On behalf of the school’s community, I am going to put my full support behind these children.

“I also wish these children a bright future,” said Ramoetlo.

He thanked parents for letting the learners participate in the arts activities and encouraged other learners to participate in such school activities. Ramoetlo said this was not the first time the learners competed in drama and traditional dance competitions. He believes they will continue to show enormous talent.

“We thank the school’s governing body (SGB), teachers, Tembisa communityand the parents for their support.

“We hope they keep supporting the school’s drama society going forward.

“As a school, we hope these learners win the Baswa Lemetsi competition at provincial level.

“Success comes to those who become success conscious,” Ramoetlo said.

On June 10, the learners will compete at provincial level. He appealed to members of the SGB to come and watch the children as they compete. Ramoetlo also thanked the efforts of educator Lidlet Tolo, who trains the children in arts.
