Former minister Gigaba motivates learners at Charlotte Maxeke

Kuzondlula Motivational Tour gives hope to learners at Charlotte Maxeke Secondary School.

Representatives of the Kuzondlula Motivational Tour reached out to learners at Charlotte Maxeke Secondary School in Tembisa on July 31.

The founder of the motivational tour, Vuyolwethu Sibiya, said they went to the school because many of its learners requested a visit.

“As we close off the month of celebrating our father Tata Mandela, we decided to share our day with learners at Charlotte Maxeke Secondary School.

“The learners who invited us highlighted the issues of teenage pregnancy, bullying and drugs.

“We also needed to support and inspire them because they said they had never been visited by a prominent person before, to share their journey to success,” said Sibiya.

Former minister of home affairs Malusi Nkanyezi Gigaba said he supports Kuzondlula Motivational Tour because it ignites a love of education in learners.

“They must focus on education to build a better future.

“All the other challenges will pass, but education will stay with you. Therefore it is important for adults to encourage learners to pursue excellence in their education.

“Learners must stay away from things that don’t build their future,” said Gigaba.

School principal David Gama thanked the visitors for their motivational speeches.

“I hope our learners will change their behaviour and implement what they were told by our guests.

“We are very happy about this initiative,” said Gama.

The chairman of the Tembisa Local Taxi Association, Alfred Sithole, said they can do more to help the school.

“We will do what we can to uplift the level of education in this school.

“From now on we will build a solid relationship with the school,” said Sithole.
