Don’t miss out on the Warbirds Day Airshow later this month

Pilots from all over the country will show off their abilities and aircraft in breathtaking aerial and static displays.

Barnstormers Model Flying Club will again host its Warbirds Day Airshow on September 29 at the club situated off the R25.

Pilots from all over the country will show off their abilities and aircraft in breathtaking aerial and static displays, starting at 10am and continuing throughout the day.

In past airshows, only military aircraft were displayed. This year the variety has been expanded to include civilian aircraft as well.

Said Gareth Randall of the club: “This airshow is going to be the biggest and best held with model aircraft from World War I and World War II, as well as civilian aircraft being flown on the day. We’re expecting several ‘turbine’-powered aircraft too.”

Scale and semi-scale aircraft will also be on display, where the public can get up close and personal while talking to the builders and pilots of these flying machines.

Also on the programme is combat flying with Gremlin aircraft and Streamer Chasing with as many as 10 or 12 aircraft flying at the same time – last man standing rules.

To keep the children satisfied too, there will be sweet drops for different age groups, so everyone can get a sweet.

The entrance fee is R100 a vehicle or R50 a motorcycle, payable at the gate on the day.

Food and beverages will be on sale, cash only, and there is enough secure parking.
