Original story:

A fire, affecting three substations in Glen Marais, Van Riebeeck Park and Rietfontein, has left many Kemptonians in the dark again on Friday.

A team is investigating the cause and extent of the damage and no turnaround time is known, the City of Ekurhuleni said in a tweet at 3.20pm.

This comes not even three days after a five-day blackout for many Kemptonians.

After three hours without power, fuming residents were waiting for any information from the City of Ekurhuleni.

Kempton Express has also not been notified.

Ward councillor Jaco Terblanche was prepared to go on record on Friday afternoon, saying there was a fire at a substation near Esselen Park, which could be the cause of the widespread outage.

According to him the fire had not been completely put out and he doubted that any work would start before Saturday.

In the meantime, the City of Ekurhuleni did send out a tweet about a power failure in Tembisa, telling residents they did not have any turnaround time.

Kempton Express will publish updates if made available by the City.
