Ivory Park Secondary School crowns its kings and queens

School principal Edith Mamosebo said it was very exciting to see the learners going beyond academics.

The Department of Arts and Culture hosted the Mr and Miss Ivory Park Secondary School pageant on October 22.

The pageant aims to create stars of tomorrow in the modelling world and have great school ambassadors right from the townships. Parents and friends attended the event to cheer on the contestants.

School principal Edith Mamosebo said it was very exciting to see the learners going beyond academics.

“We wanted to give the learners a platform where they have some sense of ownership. Although it started out small, the pageant has now shown massive growth, thanks to all the parents and the department’s support,” said Mamosebo.

The department’s events co-coordinator Phumzile Ndlovu said the event was successful and the winners received wonderful prizes.

“They were awarded handbags, diaries and toiletries. For next year’s event we will invite a well-known musician. I cannot disclose more at the moment,” said Ndlovu.

The seniors winners included queen Tshepiso Molekwa, first princess Dikeledi Moabelo, second princess Mpho Mathapo and Miss Personality Basetsana Kgwedi.

The winners among the boys included king Mthobisi khoza, first prince Lebogang Tsotetsi and second prince Ledwaba Bongani.
