MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure motivates learners on first day of school

Learners must learn to respect teachers, appeals MEC

The MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure, Jacob Mamabolo, has urged learners to teach themselves to respect their teachers.

He argued that this will see them reaching for the stars.

Mamabolo was motivating learners during his visit to Endulwini Primary School on Wednesday, as part of the Gauteng provincial government’s drive to monitor and to ensure that teaching and learning kicks off without any hindrances.

“On behalf of the Gauteng government, I would like to take this time and applaud every educator, especially those in primary education because this is where the foundation is laid.

“Also, I would like to applaud all the high schools that performed well during the 2019 matric exams. Thank you for keeping this province on top.

“My wish and prayer is that you continue to build the nation. These children are in your hands,” he said.

“My message to all learners is that they must learn to respect their teachers so they can do their job of teaching with ease and excellence.

“Secondly, you must respect your parents so they are able to help you with your homework and other school work which they are required to check on a daily basis. Finally, make books your best friends. You must learn to love books because they will never give you nyaope, alcohol and crime,” said Mamabolo.

He said he was happy to see that both the teachers and learners came prepared for learning and teaching to take place.
