Young people encouraged to have themselves tested

Youth organisation to bring health services closer to the people.

Winnie Mandela Zone 8 Stadium will be abuzz with activities organised by the Community Media Trust tomorrow morning (February 5).

This youth-oriented organisation will be bringing services such as HIV, high blood pressure and sugar diabetes testing closer to the people.

According to the Community Trust Media mobiliser, Jabulani Masimango, activities begin at 10am until 4pm.

“We actually want to encourage people, especially the youth, to always look after their health. And this is the reason why we are bringing these testing services closer to them so that they can get tested and know their health status.

“We will be giving away some goodies, such as caps, T-shirts, squeeze bottles, pens and many more items.

“We are going to reward participants just for testing,” he said.

“Those suffering from drugs and substance abuse will not be left out as we have invited specialists to come help addicts beat this killer lifestyle,” he continued.

He said the City of Ekurhuleni will also be in attendance and will also be bringing their services much closer to the people.

This organisation will also be launching a new programme called As’bangene, where young people are encouraged to make healthy lifestyle choices, using music and dance.

The launch will officially take place on February 28.
