Stage 2 load shedding still not over: your Friday schedule

At 5pm on Thursday, unplanned breakdowns stood at 13 217MW

Due to higher generating unit breakdowns, stage 2 load shedding will continue on Friday.

At 5pm on Thursday, unplanned breakdowns stood at 13 217MW, which makes load shedding at the weekend a high probability.

Demand exceeded 30 000MW during peak hours on Thursday, reducing the operating reserves.

Eskom continues to fix these unplanned breakages to ensure timeous return to service, as well as critical maintenance that is being conducted on units that are currently on planned outages.

Friday’s schedule for Kempton, until 6am on Saturday:

5am – 8am: Bredell, Pomona, Glen Marais Extensions (49, 52, 89 & 98), Serengeti, Brentwood Park, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Parts of Kempton Park Ext 2 & Ext 4

7.30am – 10.30am: Geyser ripple control

10am – 1pm: Kempton Park CBD, Kempton Park Extensions, Croydon, Cresslawn, Rhodesfield, Kelvin Estate and Esther Park

12.30pm – 3.30pm: Birchleigh, Birchleigh North, Glen Erasmia, Kaalfontein, Esselen Park and Esselen Park Extensions

3pm – 6pm: Glen Marais, Allen Grove, Norkem Park, Birchleigh Extensions and Bonaero Park

5.30pm – 8.30pm: Geyser ripple control

8pm – 11pm: Birch Acres, Terenure, Edleen, Van Riebeeck Park, Kempton West

10.30pm – midnight: Bredell, Pomona, Glen Marais Extensions (49, 52, 89 & 98), Serengeti, Brentwood Park, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Parts of Kempton Park Ext 2 & Ext 4

Midnight – 3am: Birchleigh, Birchleigh North, Glen Erasmia, Kaalfontein, Esselen Park and Esselen Park Extensions

2.30am – 5.30am: Glen Marais, Allen Grove, Norkem Park, Birchleigh Extensions and Bonaero Park
