Two men were killed and two more people critically injured in a collision on Pretoria Road on Saturday night.

The accident happened at the intersection with the P91 near Esselen Park shortly before 10pm.

According to William Ntladi, spokesperson for Ekurhuleni emergency services, the deceased, the driver and a passenger, were travelling in the bakkie. They were declared dead on the scene.

A woman, who was with them in the bakkie, was critically injured and transported to Zamukuhle Private Hospital in Tembisa.

Ntladi said the driver of the other vehicle was also admitted to the same hospital in critical condition.

Rescue teams from Kempton Park Fire Station received the call at 9.54pm. On arrival, they found the two deceased outside the bakkie.

The intersection had to be closed for traffic for the duration of the operations and was then handed over to the metro police.
