Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Johanna Madiga, confirmed that the reports were false and that she was aware that the officer is still alive.

Madiga said one of the vehicles used in Monday’s heist was recovered by police at the intersection of Lydia and Gertrude streets in Birchleigh North.

“The car recovered is a silver BMW with false registration plates. It was a hijacked vehicle that was previously reported stolen in Brixton.”

There were two bullet holes in the car and inside police found multiple balaclavas.

The CIT heist that occurred on Monday evening around 7pm on the P91 (R25) was the first of two such heists in the City of Ekurhuleni this week.
