Auditions for new Miss Thembisa are underway

Auditions for Miss Thembisa open.

Auditions for the annual Miss Thembisa are underway.

The auditions will run until March 14, with callbacks scheduled for March 21. Auditions are held every Saturday at the Zodwa Mofokeng Community Centre.

The current queen, Mohau Matinketsa, who has been roped in as one of the audition judges, has warned aspiring models to bring their A game.

“This is not a beauty contest, honestly. We are looking for someone who is hardworking and dedicated to giving to and spending time with the community’s developmental programmes.

“Do not just audition because you think you look like a model. We are not looking for a model; we are looking for a leader who can give back. A leader who can put the community’s interests before their own,” she said.

Matinketsa has so far proven to be a worthy ambassador who has been engaged in a number of community development programmes.

Notably is the clothing and stationery campaigns where Matinketsa spearheaded the collection of clothes for the needy.

“During the festive period, I managed to collect clothing which we donated to the less privileged, under the Miss Thembisa banner.

“I am currently busy with my textbook drive. We are collecting textbooks and books that we will donate to schools and learners who really need it,” she said.

Auditions will continue this Saturday at the Zodwa Mofokeng Community Centre, Kopanong Section, at 9am.
