AVOID: Group of Glen Marikana residents protest on Dann Road
Some shacks were taken down earlier on Monday morning.
The relocation of Glen Marikana residents had been halted this morning after residents of the informal settlement started protesting.
According to information from the scene the group that gathered on Dann Road wants the department for human settlements to leave. The City of Ekurhuleni’s MMC for human settlements, Lesiba Mpya, is at the settlement.
For the time being, motorists are advised to avoid Dann Road. The metro police are present to keep the situation under control.
Angry protesters got aggressive when Kempton Express tried to take photographs.
Some shacks were taken down earlier on Monday morning.
