Families receive donated food parcels
Life 4U Foundation reaches out to help families in need.
Life 4U Foundation continues to honour its mandate to touch the lives of the people in the community it serves.
Through Life 4U Foundation, Simon Molekwa, founder of the charity organisation, managed to visit three houses with elderly who are in desperate need of food parcels.
These elderly community members were identified by Mluleki Khota, who occasionally works with Ward 100 councillor Phokwane Watch Mabotha.
Khota said during their door-to-door campaigns with the councillor, they managed to identify these individuals.
“After spotting those in need during the campaigns, I approached Simon Molekwa of Life 4U Foundation to help with the situation of providing food parcels and school uniforms,” Khota said.
Sthembiso Nungu’s family of 13, who all depend on Gogo Lydia Nungu’s pension fund, which often does not last long, was visited.
Nungu said he lives with his two brothers and uncle, who are all ill, and the rest who are unemployed.
“We live with our children who need to go to school every day. We need to eat and it just gets tougher. Once the municipal bills are paid, we are done for because we aren’t left with much.
“I was staying in KwaZulu-Natal before my grandfather died last year. Since then the situation has only gotten worse. My one brother was injured at work, a head injury. Later her was attacked, which left his skull open. Currently, he is declared unfit to work.
Nungu said the last thing they need is for the children to not have anything to eat.

“I am appealing to anyone who needs to hire a pair of hands to get hold of me through Life 4U Foundation. Employment would enable me to buy what we might need. Gogo and uncle needs to take their medications and the young ones need to eat,” said Nungu.
Gogo Christina Motloung, who lives in a shack with her son and husband in Moriting squatter camp, also received food parcels from Life 4U Foundation.
She said she has been living in the squatter camp since 1996 when the municipality built the Moriting Park next to the Shell Garage.
“This shack of mine has been falling apart over the years and we have rebuilt it. Now it looks like it is going to fall over again at anytime,” she said.
Her 19-year-old son, who asked not to be mentioned, said he is sometimes ashamed to bring his school friends home.
“The situation is pretty bad because sometimes we go to sleep without eating. My dad hasn’t been working for quite some time now.
“These shacks around here are not electrified; we using paraffin stoves. I grew up here and nothing has changed. The house is now barely standing on its own.
“Even so, I would like to thank Life 4U Foundation for bringing us the food parcels. It really means a lot,” said the son.
Molekwa said he told all three families they have donated to to knock on his door whenever they are in need.
He said they also have a children feeding scheme and sometimes they run short of food parcels to give to those who are in need.
“All theses donations were made possible by Iwisa. We would like to thank them for their continuous support. Thank you also to our chairperson Mpho Molekwa; she is the one fighting to get us all the sponsors.
“People aren’t just in need of food, they are in need of clothes as well. My biggest wish is that gogo Motloung finds a better house,” said Molekwa.
The food parcels included an Iwisa 12.5kg maize meal, Iwisa 10kg samp, Iwisa 10kg mealie rice, a bag of flour, and two 1kg instant porridges.
