Motorists who feel they have been wrongly treated by an Ekurhuleni metro police officer have various options to report the officer.
Kobeli Mokheseng, metro police spokesperson, gave this advice.
1. You can phone the anti-corruption hotline of the City of Ekurhuleni on 0800 102201.
2. Dial 112 on your cellphone and request the police’s anti-corruption unit. You can also dial 10111.
3. During weekdays, between 8am and 3.30pm, a plaintiff can walk into their nearest metro police precinct and request to speak to a precinct commander or a deputy/senior officer in charge available at that time.
4. Visit the metro police head office in Kempton Park at the corner of Long and Margaret streets (during weekdays) and request to see the internal affairs/integrity and standards unit, for assistance.
“The complainant should be prepared to give/write a statement, indicating what actually transpired. The internal affairs team will then investigate the matter. A date will be set for a hearing and the presiding officer will give a verdict,” said Mokheseng.
