United Way SA visited Ivory Park Secondary School to donate food parcels to a number of needy children from the school on March 4.
The organisation believes in uniting people to advance common good by focusing on education, income and health, the building blocks for a good quality life.
The school principal, Edith Mamosebo, said the organisation donated the food parcels to at least 10 learners who are orphans and they were identified by United Way SA during their Saturday classes.
“United Way SA is one of our partners, currently tutoring on Saturdays. They help learners in Grade Nine with literacy, language, mathematics, economics and management science (EMS) and science.
“They have almost 200 learners. They identified the needy children during their Saturday programme and donated the food parcels to them. They also donated 100 chairs to the school.
Mamosebo added that on Saturdays when the learners come to attend, they also get a meal after attending the classes.
“Last year, United Way SA had a big career expo and brought people from different professions to the school. Their work at the school is very much appreciated.”
