Stage 4 load-shedding continues on Wednesday: your schedule

Stage 4 load-shedding will continue from 9am on Wednesday morning after Eskom had reduced it to stage 2 at 11pm last night.

Koeberg Unit 1 was disconnected from the grid due to a fault on the turbine section. The nuclear reactor remains safe.

The seawater circulating water pump was damaged and it is expected that repairs will take a number of days.

The loss of about 930MW in Koeberg put further strain on the generation fleet, necessitating an increase in the stage of load-shedding. Unplanned breakdowns were at 12 046MW at 5.50pm on Tuesday evening, and planned maintenance outages at 6 155MW.

Wednesday’s schedule for Kempton Park is:

2.30am – 5.30am: Bredell, Pomona, Glen Marais Extensions (49, 52, 89 & 98), Serengeti, Brentwood Park, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Parts of Kempton Park Ext 2 & Ext 4

5am – 8am: Kempton Park CBD, Kempton Park Extensions, Croydon, Cresslawn, Rhodesfield, Kelvin Estate and Esther Park

7.30am – 10.30am: No information available. Geyser ripple control has been ceased and the metro still has not made details available.

10am – 1pm: Birchleigh, Birchleigh North, Glen Erasmia, Kaalfontein, Esselen Park and Esselen Park Extensions

12.30pm – 3.30pm: Glen Marais, Allen Grove, Norkem Park, Birchleigh Extensions and Bonaero Park

3pm – 6pm: Birch Acres, Terenure, Edleen, Van Riebeeck Park, Kempton West
