Kruger Rands stolen in armed Glen Marais house robbery

The suspects gained entry to the house by entering through a closing garage door.

Investigations are underway following a house robbery conducted by five armed suspects at 12.45pm on Thursday on Witstinkhout Avenue in Glen Marais.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, detectives are investigating a case of house robbery after the suspects held the victims up at gunpoint before forcing them inside their house.

Mtshali said: “An undisclosed amount of cash, jewellery, laptop, cellphone, Kruger Rands and the victim’s car keys were stolen.”

The suspects fled in a white Honda SUV and are still at large.

A Smart Security Services (SSS) reaction officer, John Prinsloo, reacted first to the scene after the panic button was pressed by the house owner.

Prinsloo said all five suspects were armed and they entered the house through the garage door as it was closing. The owner of the house was greeting people outside when the suspects gained entry to the closing garage door.

“One of the victims said one of the suspects was aggressive, while another was calmer and tried to diffuse the hostile situation.”

The owner said all five suspects were wearing balaclavas and he was not able to give police a description.
