More than just a pretty face as model opens her make-up business
It's business as usual as model gets inspired to start her own make-up company.
Pretty Nhachona, a model and auditing graduate from Matikweni section in Thembisa, turned a hobby to a business as she became a make-up artist.
The 23-year-old has been modelling for the past eight years, winning titles. She became Miss Joburg Supreme’s first princess in 2019. Nhachona decided to turn her skills into a proper business and started her company, Pretty Glitz. She offers a range of make-up services to fellow models, something she started as a hobby.
Nhachona said she started out early in her modelling days, offering make-up services to fellow models at back stages, charging them R50.
“As time went by, I got proper make-up lessons from a well-known make-up artist in Thembisa, Matome Kay. Now, I offer make-up lessons and services, thanks to him.”
Growing up, Nhachona was a shy person but grew confidence to express herself on stage. It was in 2012 when she started her journey to modelling and never looked back since then.
“When I started modelling, I entered Miss Teen Thembisa, and I was in the top five. Later, I started winning titles and I have numerous titles.
“In 2014, my first pageant title was Miss Beauty and The Brains queen. I also won Miss Kempton Park Royalty first princess in 2016, Miss Midrand Thembisa queen 2016, Miss Dream Chaser first princess 2016, Miss Alexandra queen 2016, and recent ones include Miss Natural Midrand 2018 and Miss Joburg Supreme first princess.”
If she is not on stage, she is either organising a pageant or grooming others. She has been part of the organising teams of several pageants in and out of Thembisa for the past three years.
“In 2018, I started co-hosting pageants with other pageant organisers. Last year, we had our second annual Miss Face of Winnie Mandela; we also had Miss Winnie Mandela High School.
“In the same year, I also helped the organisers of Miss KwaNdebele and Miss Kwamhlanga with their respective pageants.”
The former Thlakanang Primary School and Zitikeni Secondary School learner graduated in the Vaal University of Technology.
