Makhulong boys make ‘Insipho ka darkie’, a detergent for townships
They had to master the product formulation so we could meet and exceed customers' expectations
Tshidiso Mlambo (23) and Luyanda Nyembezi (21) are the founders of Supaklin Detergents. The Makhulong-based entrepreneurs worked together to create their Supaklin Detergents in 2019.
“My partner, Luyanda, had a background in chemistry back in high school and I have experience when it comes to sales, so we teamed up and came up with Supaklin Detergents,” said Mlambo.
Mlambo said that ever since they established their product, the feedback from the community has been a positive one. He explained that they wanted to produce a product that everyone would be happy with, especially people from the townships.
“Our tagline says ‘Insipho ka darkie’ (A soap for the black person) simply because the product is for township people. “So far, people who have used our product are happy with the quality it offers them.
“We had to master the product formulation so we could meet and exceed customers’ expectations,” said Mlambo.
He added that they first did their research and had a chance to do a course with the NYDA to learn more about what they needed to succeed.
Mlambo also mentioned that he is hoping that their product will become the most preferred detergent in the country.
“Supaklin Detergents is currently available in Thembisa, KwaMhlanga in Mpumalanga, Vosloorus, Katlehong, Leondale and Tsakane.
“We hope to offer our products not only around Mpumalanga and Gauteng but we also aim to offer it at retail stores,” said Mlambo.
