Glen Marikana resident arrested for possession of unlicensed ammunition

Officers found 28 live ammunition underneath the suspect’s mattress

A 26-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed ammunition at Glen Marikana Informal Settlement on March 8.

Kempton Park SAPS members received a tip-off of a person in possession of ammunition.

“The person described the suspect’s shack and when police arrived, they found the suspect and asked to search his home,” said Sgt Dipuo Ditshego, deputy spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“Officers found 28 live rounds of ammunition underneath the suspect’s mattress. When he failed to give answers and to produce the necessary documentation, he was arrested and detained at Kempton Park Police Station pending his appearance at Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.”
