Police arrested a 48-year-old man for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm on Kempton Road on March 7.
The police were conducting routine crime prevention duties when they saw a group of suspicious-looking men standing in the street, said Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson.

Upon conducting a search, the suspect tried to evade the search by fleeing into a yard. He was arrested a short distance away after a brief chase.
They searched him and recovered an unlicensed firearm on his waist. The suspect failed to produce a licence to possess a firearm.
The firearm was reported stolen at Boksburg Police Station in January last year.
Kempton Park SAPS station commander Brig Samuel Maredi applauded his team for the good work.
