Christian Family Church donated 10 new trolleys to residents of Allen Park Old Age Home on March 18.
The initiative is intended to help elderly shoppers overcome some of the challenges they face in carrying their goods to their destinations.
Sarie Scheepers, lifestyle management consultant at Allen Park, said the home would place each of the trolleys at different block of flats, making it easy for the elderly to access when needed.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the donation. This has allowed us to keep trying to transform the lives of the vulnerable and elderly in our home,” said Scheepers.
Past Fazel Baatjies said Christian Family Church was approached to assist the retirement village because the elderly were really struggling to carry and transport their goods from the entrance gate to their living quarters.
“The fact that a lot of the people at the home are subject to either walking aids or some kind of aid to assist their walking or moving abilities,we as a church decided to donate ten trolleys to assist them,” said Baatjies.
